smart rendering XDCAM

3POINT schrieb am 08.10.2017 um 12:09 Uhr

VegasPro and VegasMovieStudio claim smart rendering for XDCAM files. I wonder when I want to re-use such a smart rendered XDCAM file in a new project that it is NOT smart rendered a second time. Do I oversee something?

If I remember, in previous version, forgot which one, Vegas Pro does smart rendering for XDCAM, but later it was removed due to some issues.

But I need to make sure again.

iirc it was never reinstalled as smart rendering - which was a great pity.

That's bad. XDCAM is a fast Codec for previewing or to render complex projects to one track.

Today I imported a MXF (almost 27 min MPEG2 HD1080p25) recording into VP15 en render the file to XDCAM HD1080p25. The preview shows "no recompress" and the rendertime is about 11 min. That's pretty fast. Now I switch off enable no-recompress rendering in the general preferences and render again to XDCAM 1080p25. Now the rendertime is only 7 min, 4 min faster than "no recompress" rendering. I´m wondering that smartrendering is slower than normal rendering!!!

I've wasted a lot of time trying to figure out why "no-recompress rendering (smart rendering)" doesn't work on XDCAM EX files. The current help system for Magix Vegas Pro 14 seems to indicate that it should be possible. But Nick's link in this thread seems to indicate maybe otherwise. If it doesn't work, WHY IS IT STILL IN THE HELP DOCUMENTATION AS WORKING, MAGIX?. See attached image.
