Using Virtual Dub effects in WAX

StormMarc schrieb am 17.04.2004 um 03:07 Uhr
I remember someone mentioning that certain Virtual Dub effects do not work in WAX because of temporal smoothing (or something like that). Would this apply to the Smart Smoother noise reduction plugin? I've noticed that it works in Vegas with WAX but seems to reset itself periodically so that I have to go back into each clip to reset it up. Is this a bug or a known incompatibility?

Thanks,

Marc

Smartsmoother is spatial, and I think it should work. Only the plugins that need to look at more than one frame (hence the word "temporal," meaning over time) can't work because of how Vegas and plugins interact.

VirtualDub filters cannot save their parameters/settings to the vegas project. So whenever you close and open the project you'll have to go and set the properties again - thats what you are seeing as 'getting reset periodically'. Apart from that it will work fine.

Thanks Satish, I understand now. I was also getting some crashing at times but read on your forum to disable the hardware render option so I'll see how things go from now on.

Thanks for all your fine work,

Marc

Satish (or JR or JetDV)
Any chance a script that could recall those VDub settings? Does Vegas have any way of reaching into VDub and reading what's there?
