While I think it should be fully clear that there can't be support for an unsupported OS and thus there shouldn't be ignorant posts in this forum complaining about bugs while using such an OS (this thread does not), I also think that @fred-w described his point well.

While I will have to set up an Win10 installation for VP18 that behaves like I want it to I can also perfectly understand the mentioned arguments against Win10 (last paragraph from @fred-w). A product isn't better in every way just because it is more modern and well supported. "No one" asked for an OS with less privacy and more telemetry... And I think these points should also be respected.

Other versions would be a monumental task... VEGAS was crafted around windows and its features. It wouldn't be a simple port.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Here we are in 2025 and close to 3% still use Windows 7. The OS had actually extended (paid) support until 2023, which is why most web browsers did not end their support earlier. Some vendors still support Windows 7 to this day, most notably Movavi and Reaper DAW. There is nothing wrong with using a legacy OS if it suits your needs and you have taken the necessary steps to keep things safe.
