RE: Color grading in Vegas
This is not a question of Vegas only. What type of footage do you record - so is it a HDR or SDR? And if you have a significant amount of luminance and color correction - then 10bit Prores 422 is a good choice for Vegas. At least for the actual

RE: Color grading in Vegas
Inspired by Woflgang I tried editing the older video as if it were Slog 3. That seems to be right for the tone curve but not for color. VEGAS doesn't really have tools to mix and match different gamuts and gammas. Straight out of camera (left) vs

RE: How to change track colors using script?
First of all, you have to look at "VideoTrack" to see the "TrackColor" option (you can't see it on "Track" or "AudioTrack".) Then the "TrackColor" parameter is read only so you can't change the track colors with a script.

RE: Third-party plugins or effects for Vegas Pro - Emmanuel Katto Uganda
Boris has a bunch of really good plugins for VEGAS as far as effects go. VEGAS' color grading panel is fantastic, but for more stuff, you can try the graide suite. https://www.semw-software.com/en/graide/

RE: Handbrake to Vegas Pro 18
Your screen shot says your source is DolbyVision. Unfortunately, DolbyVision is a proprietary format for which neither Vegas nor Handbrake holds license to decode the dynamic color metadata stream. That said, if you can live with the color swings

RE: AVI (UT Video) files and limited-full range - problem
My question was more if it's possible to do any color manipulation in VEGAS only affecting luminance so as to output compliant XvYCC. I suppose if you make no changes it's just a passthrough.Did UT YUV files ever work as you expect in VEGAS? (Have

RE: AV1 render fails w/ "The reason for the error could not be determined"
ACES support seems to be having issues during the rebuild of the video engine (strange interactions with the color grading panel, the default space not working right for me, etc.) Odd that it's only failing with AV1 though (and that doesn't even use

RE: I have a question about the features of Vegas Pro 11 and Vegas Pro 22.
I went from 12 to more recent versions and most of the features are the same (either exactly the same or updated). There are also many new features added since the days of 11 (video levels are set automaticlally, native LUT support, HDR support, new

@ALO I think you're right that cgp is not operating in Rec709 color space when it is selected as a view transform. Which functions only for viewing the display. If you really want to edit in Rec709 space, you need to apply the log to the footage via

RE: Vegas Pro 22 Horrifically Slow HVEC rendering
You can add two LUTs via the CGP at once. (input and output). You could also apply the two correction ones to the media as CGP at the media level and then a look LUT via CGP at the track level.Or use third-party software to merge the gamma and gamut

@Ruby888 Yes that's combing from an interlaced frame. Two things: Preview - don't use a Full setting. Use Half such as Good Half In Project Settings make sure you are deinterlacing by using "Deinterlace method" either Interpolate fields or Smart

RE: Need a script for changing media's alpha channel.
@john_dennis the important line here is Color Space: RGBA The images MUST have "transparency" to show. Often, I make my icons and then just make one pixel transparent to make sure it saves as RGBA out of the photo editor.

Question: 8 vs 10-bit HEVC Renders?
Working within an 8-bit project (ie, 8-bit FR or legacy), with 10-bit footage on the timeline, does it make any difference if the render is set to 8 or 10-bit color depth? I would think no...but who knows?

RE: 1080HD on 4K timeline?
My experience with Upscaling is that the result is not worth the time it takes, especially in Vegas. Made some experience with Topaz, the same. Yesterday I combined as a test 1080p50 from my old Pana with 2160p50 from my new Osmo-pocket 3 in a 4k

@wiel-gulpen yes, it will require more work for sure. But the results will be superior. It's tough sometimes shooting where you would need a strong ND filter to get what you are looking for. I've shot mountains and sky, and having to work with

Here's a screen shot of a clip rendered in MXF format in V22 with the "Broadcast Color" filter applied to the master bus in order to bring the levels to broadcast safe. That clip was rendered in V22 and it looks fine on the scopes before rendering.

RE: Is Color Grading plugin broken?
You may need to manually set it to color range full as the metadata may have gotten loss in the conversion to ProRes. VP 22.239 with 32-bit full (view transform off) and Vlog to Rec 709 conversion in the input LUT tab plus exposure adjustment.
