Reyfox & mark-y: Thank you for the replies. I accomplished what I needed to with those .MTS files (without grief) and am using a different camera now that produces .mp4. The 8000 Hz sample rate (or whatever, please pardon any incorrect jargon)

m2ts file import crashes Vegas Pro 20 (Build 411)

@terry-c There is another issue here to consider. MP4 files are not compatible with the DVD or Blu-ray specs, which appears to be the intended destination for your videos. So they will have to be converted, either by your video editor, or DVDA if
