RE: 2 hr DVD
Thanks to everyone for the insight on Mpeg compression. I have another question, I rendered out to mpeg2 in V4 with bit rate of max of 4 to a project of 1hr 58min. The resulting files (I spelt the live music video to 4 files at band change breaks.)

RE: DVDA File size
Any resembelance between DVDA's file estimates, and actual file sizes, is strictly coincidental. Everything about DVDA's file estimation and time remaining to burn is completely broken -- not even close. I've had burns that show 60% complete that

RE: DVD menu authoring
I've found Ulead Movie Factory (v2) very good, easy to use. It is fairly basic though (in terms of how much you can customize the menus). For me that's fine, as I spend most of the time I have available to this hobby on the editing side - and I

RE: Why double Rendering?
A 23 minute video should not re-encoding because of size. Just to be sure of everything, open your DVDA project and click on File -> Optimize DVD. In the columns for each video you have put into DVDA, you should see either a green check, a

much smaller DVD files than MPEG??
I've been making DVDs from MPEG files, to which I've added chapter points in DVDA. One thing I've noticed is that if I start with an MPEG file of around 4.5GB, the estimated project size will be a little less, say 4.2 GB, but when the DVD is

more mpeg1/2 confusion
Does anyone know where to find some "real" literature about this feature of MS3.0a? When I select "Burn it to dvd" on the Make Movie page, the result is a blank box with the exception of a block to enter a file name. I have the full version of MS or

RE: Another file size question!
Scratch. Don't worry... just go ahead and make the project.. and you'll be fine. Had a project... Video 4.1G Audio 200K. Program stated it would be a 4.7G finished project. It wasn't. Made the DVD... final size was 4.29 Which was just fine for

RE: Override optimize. Impossible, right?
>1. If the file doesn't need to be reoptimized/squished - then you don't have to do it (or said a different way ...yes you can override it). But if it needs it - it needs it. Then there is no way to override it - since it has to be

Override optimize. Impossible, right?
When DVDA intends to recompress a video and/or audio, its impossible to override, correct? I believe so, but am hoping for confirmation. Situation: I created a series of mpgs in Vegas, imported into DVDA and all was well. Now, because of the lack

RE: How much video on a DVD?
I made a DVD that was slightly under 4 Gb. For some reason the Ulead software that I use for burning would not accept the MPEG file unless it was slightly under 4Gb. I think that it had to do with the overhead of the DVD menues. It's hard to

RE: Estimated DVD Size
Thanks for your response BillyBoy. But the point I'm making is that DVDA estimates the completed project at more than 3GB more than the actual total when the rendering was complete. I am using DVDA 1.0c so yes I do have the latest version. There is

There was a size bug in the earlier versions. So first off be sure you got the latest version of DVD-A. I only used the optimize feature a couple times to squeeze a little extra on the disc. Here's how: First be realastic. If you got maybe a

RE: DVDA mistakes my file sizes
I've seen this with PAL footage.. A long story but anyway- I'd changed my mind from a music compilation (multifile MJPEG.AVI source, didn't want to use Vegas4 to render a single file). DVDA crashed before it finished creating the PAL.m2v files in

RE: Best Render for CDs?
garo...(I'm using VV 3) I understand your frustration. You don't want to make a VCD, a SVCD, or a DVD. You just want to have your rendered project fit on a standard CD-R, right? A multimedia CD. Video Factory has all the information you are

RE: Slide Show
Agree. I'd also like the estimated size of the project to be something close to reality. Last night I was working on a DVD which is all slide shows. DVDA reported that the size of the project was 7Gigs. Just to be sure I created the files but

Mpeg capturing size?
Can someone give me an estimate of MEGS/1 Minute of capturing Mpeg video. Let's say I wanted to capture video, and during the capture process it automatically compresses to MPEG. If I wanted 29.97 frames/sec with 640x480 resolution, what's a rough

RE: Project won't fit!!!
You don't give very many specifics as to how you encoded your files (CBR vs VBR//program stream or elementary stream//what type of audio--mpeg vs ac3 vs wave//etc.), so it makes it a bit harder to help out. If you use compressed audio (like ac3 at
