RE: PLayall + individual sections....Please??
as far as I can see, there is only 1 copy of the file on disk..cool hey? I actually went through all the steps I could think of to check: ie. "optimize dvd" over and over again... The original avi (I wanted dvda to do the encoding just in case...)

RE: Question about first attempt to use DVDA
Ah yes, the ol' advertising thing. When is 4.7 gig not really 4.7 gig? When 4.2 gig does not sound as good on the box!!! Have you ever installed a new hard drive? It is pretty disappointing to install your new 200 gig drive and find it really only

Question about first attempt to use DVDA
I'm slowing inching toward trying to get my first DVD made. I had a large project rendered to MPEG2 using the default settings for PAL & made a file that is 4.4 GB. I know that DVD is supposed to hold up to 4.7GB so this should allow about

Confusion over what files to render etc.
Sorry for posting such a long question but I haven't seen the required information spelled out anywhere. Im very confused as to just what files to create prior to importing them into DVA. I have a PAL project that I will soon be finished in Vegas

RE: Optimize not available in VV4?
All optimize does in DVD-A is flag files that may/will need recompressing either because they are of the wrong type for DVD or the sum of your project files is too large to fit on a disc. In Vegas you can do the same thing by picking different

RE: Recommendations Please
DVD-A is almost a great application, but it has some really basic flaws that make it almost unusable at times. It doesn't let you take footage that you've already put on DVD and easily re-use it later. It cannot handle multiple MPEG files as one

RE: Scene Selection makes DVD too big
Maybe something simple... When you originally drop the source video onto DVD-A's workspace it's thumbnail is a link to the file. When you create a scene selection menu that's a second link. Once the scene selection menu is created DELETE the

RE: Capture settings for audio quality?
OK, I'll describe what we do, and used to do, as best as I can from memory. I'm at work, the software is at home. We connect the analog camera to the digital camera (a Sony VX2000), which serves as an analog/digital converter, so we don't need a

RE: DVDA makes media file size greater than source's file size
EdK, I don't understand your point. But anyway, it makes no sense rendering 2-chanel stereo (like mine) to AC-3. PCM stereo uses 2 audio channels. AC-3 uses 6. If you render to AC-3 you will end up with 6 audio channel, of which 4 are empty, but

RE: Length Limitation on DVDA Introductory Media Clip?
I just tried to do this with a 38 minute clip. It gives me the error message "The estimated total size of all menus is greater than the maximum of 1 GB." It won't let me ignore the error and prepare/burn anyway. This clip is the only thing I need

RE: Risk in Burning DVD with > 100% Capacity?
The size shown by the "optimize" command is only an estimate. After you prepare the DVD, you might want to check on the actual size of the output directory structure.

Risk in Burning DVD with > 100% Capacity?
Hello, I've used the DVDA Optimize DVD option to adjust the encoding rate such that the estimated size of the DVD is 102% of the 4.7 billions of bytes capacity of my DVD+R/RW disc. I then select Prepare DVD (as DVDA does not yet support the

RE: DVDA reports incorrect disc size - insists on re-render
When you go into the Optimize DVD dialog (File | Optimize DVD...), what are the estimated sizes of the different media assets? How do these sizes change when the AC-3 files are removed? Since, your symptoms sound similar to a bug that was fixed in

Architect says Project 8GB! (But it's not)
Hi, I went to Prepare my dvd project and 2 error messages came up 1) Not enough temporary space, I checked the directory in preferences, there is 10GB. 2) It says my menu which is 30 secs long is a whopping 3GB! hmm. It's actually 30mb. So my

RE: Matching Vegas/DVfilmaker/TMPGenc and DVDA
I'd try one of the DVD profiles perhaps with the template described elsewhere on the web (I'll post the link when I'm back on a PC and not this confounded set top internet box). Have the VBR set to between 4Mbps and 8Mbps or tighter towards 8, and

DVDA 1.0a update now available
DVDA 1.0a, build 184 is a bug-fixes only update. Fixes include: A bug has been fixed that could cause an underrun on some machines when recording to -R and -RW media. A bug has been fixed that always forced recompression of media with a 16:9

RE: Pal to NTSC
First, from your description, you're menus are likely over the 1 GB limit. (The calculation of the estimated menu size is only wrong when the audio is not being recompressed.) There was a bug with the next button that it wasn't updated properly

RE: Hey I should be paid to debug this application!
The Optimize DVD dialog shows you the total size for the asset (i.e. video plus audio). It does not show individual audio files. The menu that show up as 55 MB length is likely longer than the other menus. You can change the length of your menu

RE: AC3 audio on a Menu
First, the problem is only with calculation of the menu size. This will not effect how long the actual render takes. If the audio is being recompressed then, the menu size estimate should be correct. This is the easiest workaround to the

RE: My 2.9G turns into 5.1G.. and wants to recompress..
It sounds like something is not compliant with your ac3 file that DVD-A want's to recompress it. I had huge file estimates when I imported a program stream alone, especially if there were chapters (55 gig estimate for a 3.2 gig file!!), that was
