RE: Can not render higher than 800x600
I use Fraps, and I am at the regular edition, not platinum.

RE: vegas 8.0b occasional temporary freeze of play fun
The problem could occur because the screen grab from fraps is very high resolution. Also depending on what kind of compression the still uses could also make a difference. Having more programs also loaded into RAM wouldn't help either, impact of

RE: vegas 8.0b occasional temporary freeze of play fun
no, it is not the hard drive. The problem occurs independently. But i analysed a little further. The problem occurs, when i do this: 1.) i take a shot from a virtual environment (Second Life) using fraps (screen grabber) 2.) I switch the window to

RE: 8.0 and 8.1 on same PC
Fraps video does not work with 8.1. I ended up doing nearly everything in 8.0 as a result.

RE: PPT Slide export, again.
One option might be to run your PowerPoint slide show like you normally and just capture the screen using Fraps. This will results in a huge video file, which you can edit in Vegas and re-render to something more manageable. Just try Googleing for

Help with a solid output with quality
I used GSpot to read information on a file, and in short, it was 58 seconds long, 1280x720, using XVid ISO Codec (MPEG-4) but it was an AVI, and it was 44MB. Now, 44MB for < 1 minute isn't great IMO, but the quality of the capture (a video game)

RE: sudden slow down when rendering a video (solved)
I should thank you, being the curious type I looked up Fraps and CrazyTalk. Looks like fun. Bob.

RE: sudden slow down when rendering a video (solved)
Hi, Bob; Thank you for your hint. After i read your entry, i took another round on this problem. No, i do not have HDV or mpeg-2 based footage. It is all from fraps and crazyTalk (i am making machinima moovies). So i looked again at the property

automatic background job for footage preparation?
Hi; Apologize for maybe a trivial question, but i never did automation with vegas before, so i consider myself as absolute newbie in this area... Having said that, i want to automatically transform my fraps-generated uncompressed raw footage into

8.1 - Media Offline (Video) from 8.0 Proj
Saw the updates were available so installed both 8.0ca and 8.1 on my 64bit vista machine. I tried to open my most recent project in 8.1. My video files that work fine with 8.0 show as "media offline" in 8.1. Tried reimporting the tracks and it

RE: Where is my audio?
Well, I deleted them all since they were all footage of long long ago. Every FRAPS movie I've been recording now seems to import the audio just fine (and it is as you say, uncompressed raw audio) FRAPS was recording at about 20-45MB/sec for

RE: Where is my audio?
OK, well that explains why there's no information on the FRAPS website about what audio codec they use - they don't use a codec but just record the raw audio uncompressed (i.e. PCM Audio). What it doesn't explain is why you found no audio in your

Capturing from in-game on a PC. For example, I'll boot one of my favorite games, Team Fortress 2, and then use the FRAPs program which runs in the background that will write an AVI file from the video and audio on the fly. No camera or deck is

That's a neat tool.! I made a video and ran it through the program, and here's what I got: Video Codec : FPS1 Name : FRAPS Codec Status : Codec(s) are installed Length : 12.65s Frames : 759 kbps : 15975 (No wonder it looks so good, that's a lotta

RE: Where is my audio?
First you'll have to discover what audio codec FRAPS uses, then set things up so that Vegas can use the audio. As far as I can see there is no technical information about the audio codec on the FRAPS website so you will need to discover this for

RE: Where is my audio?
I'll give that a shot, thanks. To give you an idea how bloated FRAPS1 codec is, although the quality cannot be beat, at 720x450 / 60FPS, a 1:08 video was about 1.4GB. HORRIBLE.... But sure is purdy, though. :)

RE: Where is my audio?
I don't know the FRAPS codec either, but you could try using 'Super'. It may be able to transfer the audio to one of the Vegas audio Codecs. It's free, but you have to go thru a small maze of pages to get to the download. You'll have to google it.

RE: Where is my audio?
Really? Oh man. I thought the FRAPS1 codec was just for video compression, but I guess it's for audio as well. I guess Adobe Premiere Elements 4 was able to detect it but Vegas can't. Is there a way to "install" the codec for Vegas to see/use in

RE: Where is my audio?
I am importing FRAPS videos using the FRAPS1 codec. They are pretty much uncompressed AVI files that capture my video/audio live during a "capture session" when I play video games. When I go to use the file in Vegas, I do FILE > IMPORT >

Questions from a beginner : recording games
Hey all. After messing with the Vegas Pro 8 demo for 5 minutes I decided to buy it. The program is more sophisticated that Elements, which is what I'm looking for, but I know I'll have a lot of questions along the way, and hope this official forum

Widescreen rendering issue

RE: A secure format?
Ha, Dave T2, good find! Still, you need to see if a screen capture utility can capture any frame grabs, like Fraps, Camtasia, or my own little program that I wrote. Are you worried about the person with the password not stealing your video? Or
