RE: OT: The new book "Free Culture" amplifies some of the copyright arguments we've been having here
Hi Spot, Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Not surprisingly - I disagree with bits of it. :-) Sorry for the length of this post, I don't have time to edit it and make it shorter, this is written inbetween marking some editing (!)

RE: OT: The new book "Free Culture" amplifies some of the copyright arguments we've been having here
Skevos, I appreciate your post, as it's not reactionary and well thought out. I'll first respond by saying that my stands on this issue are two-fold; 1. As an artist, as a beneficiary of the current system, and as a producer, I believe very strongly

OK, things are going well - I haven't really done anything major as yet (I'm still loading apps and getting the thing ready for day-to-day work - ugh! - Install the application, track down the 50 digit serial number, register the application, get

RE: New PC advice
Okay im new to this forum. but heres my opinion on this subject. I build high end servers and gaming rigs. Think of semi versus a sports car. dont be blinded by fast speeds .take your time and research your components. i always buy from Newegg.com.

RE: Media: Fuji Versus Philips? (Ritek?)
Oh, No! Never! Never! Unless it is an absolute emergency buy retail. You should never pay over $1 for media. The best media out there "Ritek" will only cost you $0.94 each with dvd cases. The cheapest worst media will only run $0.53. I suggest you

What you see in Vegas is what the Windows OS has as a registered font. If you need a special font there are archives of fonts that you can purchase from places like Best Buy or even Walmart. Like... Galaxy of Home Office Help: Fonts Which has

RE: Absurdity of DVD Architect Registration Process
I wouldn't usually reply to crap like this (you, Billy Boy), but I feel the need to explain. Do I think the SoFo registration process is the best idea out there? No. Does it further prevent pirating and sharing software? Yes. Do I think it's a

RE: PC Mag Review of VF2 Wrong?
I've seen Screenblast at CompUSA and, I think, Best Buy for around $69. The most amazing deal I've seen, however, is on Amazon.com.

RE: Mainconcept plugin
Vegas includes an MPEG encoder that was developed by MC and tweeked by SoFo. You do not have to buy a plug-in to use it. You do have to register the MPEG encoder, but there is nothing to purchase. If you are referring to using the DV encoder from

RE: Xeon vs. Athlon MP dual CPUs, any difference?
Here's what I did. First I looked at a Dell 530 Precision workstation, but Vegas Video doesn't effectively use the 900 XGL OpenGL video-card so scratch that. Next I looked at a dual Xeon leftover from Compaq - sold by Tiger Direct for about $2k

Thankyou all, for taking the time in to not only checkout my example, but for commenting also. The comments are really important. I would much rather refine the experience before I release the site, than to quickly try to fix a major catastrophe

Vegas 2.0 Registration...
A potentially stupid question... If I were to purchase a copy of Vegas Video 2.0 (I found a bunch at my local Best Buy for $99), is it still possible to register it, now that 3.0 is out there? I'd like to use it as an upgrade path when $$$

RE: OK, now I'm REALLY confused
I would have to disagree that Vegas Pro was released as a beta product. I have found it to be highly stable, reliable and user friendly. Never have I experienced a software problem when using it. You can criticize SF of a lot of things,

Irvin - Since you are not a registered owner of Vegas and probably haven't had the time or patience to play with the demo, here is an explanation of punching in and out techniques: No, there is no punching on the fly (nor is this claimed by SF)

RE: Looking for Direct X plugins
So, wouldn't you agree that comparing Vegas to Nuendo would be apples to oranges, considering the price? I can't find it, but I don't believe SF even claims to be such a recording product that would punch on the fly- not that it wouldn't be nice.
