RE: Project size in VMS platinum 11
Hi. Doesn't Tools > Burn Disc > DVD... (and Blu-ray Disc) give you an estimated project size in VMSPlat11 and VPro10 ?

RE: Messed up settings - Virtual mem SSD, and KBPS
Defragging a standard magneto-mechanical drive is somewhere between useless and dangerous, and should be avoided. Defragmenting an SSD drive is just plain absolutely pointless. A 100% fragmented SSD will perform exactly and precisely as fast as a 0%

Thanks for the quick response, Steve. Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. CPU: Intel 2600K 8GB Memory Have you tried created a Prepared File on your hard drive rather than burning directly to a disc? (My Answer) Yes, and it did

RE: Disc Space Used
Just ignore the estimated size - it's notoriously conservative. I prepare my DVD files into an empty folder on my hard-disk. If Windows Explorer says it's less than 4.7Gb, then I know the project will fir on a DVD.

You didn't specifically say you had problems with this, but here are a couple of ideas that may help . . . VMS In your Project Properties, have you selected Match Media Settings? You will find this setting in Video tab of your Project Properties.

RE: SD --> HD Upconverter plugin for Vegas?
Since we have had all these fun threads about the best way to deinterlace video and also the best way to down-res video from HD to SD in order to create high-quality DVDs from HD sources, perhaps we need another marathon thread about going the other

Render Settings For Mpeg2 for DVD
I have a video file 01:19:08 (1hr-19min-8 seconds) that I am rendering as MPEG2 separately as a DVD Architect NTSC Video stream & Dolby Digital AC-3. My questions are as follows: 1) Can I fit 1 hr and 19 mins on a 4.7 GB DVD? What are the best

RE: Interlaced HD to DVD AGAIN - some test renders
#3 looked best on my Sony WEGA 36" CRT, from an old DVD (non up-res'ng) player, using RGB component connection. Most of this was the absence of any twitter, and excellent handling of the doll torture test. I'll look at it again tomorrow when I'm

RE: Increased file size when adding movie media
1) Render your files to COMPLIANT MPEG-2 using DVD Architect template in Vegas. 2) Render your audio using a DVD AC3 template in Vegas. 3) Use a bitrate calculator to give the correct rendering bitrate. 4) I the DVD Architect estimate is too large,

RE: Increased file size when adding movie media
A Video DVD has to be MPEG2 files. The WMV files will be converted and DVDA is probably giving you an estimate of the final converted size. You should create the MPEG2 files using the templates in your editing program. Dave T2

RE: Aliasing, artifacts and moire?
I was wondering if you could let me know if I am rendering this properly as it is just started and estimated at 14 hours and rising. It is an Hour and 20 minute video.First of all, I always recommend rendering a short, 10-30 second section of video

RE: Cramming multi-hour PAL onto a single-side DVD
You should always render the audio separately whenever making a DVD of any length. For the video use one of the "DVD Architect" templates to get the most compliant MPEG2 file possible, with no audio included. Very simple estimation method is to

Cramming multi-hour PAL onto a single-side DVD
For the first time, I made a single-side DVD with more than the normal amount of hours on it. Five hours to be specific. However finding out how to do it involved failed attempts followed by much searching and experimentation. I record here what I

RE: version 10 MPEG2 VBR file sizes
That would be the first one, though that also causes the second to be true. Do a forum search for "600" and you'll find hundreds of discussions about estimating output size to fit on a DVD. The general rule has been to divide 600 by the length of

RE: Media file is too big!
First, I'm not an expert. It is completely new for me. My file is just over 9GB and I try to fit it on DL 8.5 GB, so it shoud not be a big problem. When I click on "Make DVD" button I have a message: "The estimated size of the project is larger than

RE: DVD size too big
First, if you really do mean the "DVD NTSC" template, don't use that. It's a bad thing, and I wish Sony would remove it. Use the DVD Architect video stream template for the video and then a PCM / WAV or AC3 template for the audio. Second, there are

RE: Gaining .5 GB from V8 to DVDA?
It seems like I had a project a while back that DVDA refused to even try to burn but maybe I dreamed that. If you Prepare the DVD (not Burn), you can ignore the warning and see what the rendered folder size is, irrespective of the "estimate." At

I have a couple of years experience with video editing with consumer software . I recently purchased VMS9/DVDA 4d and I am generally very happy with it. I had one glitz with DVDA and that is: I had 3 MPEG2 video files, 1.18 Gbs. In size. (They were
