    RE: DVDA 2 Update?
I have to add that a 4 gig project is registering at 5 gig or 106% of my DVDR. This is unacceptable and the software is not a professional product. I just rendered out of Cinema Craft encoder SP from my Avid project. This time I selected very high

RE: DVDA-2 AC3 How to stop AC3 Recompress
Hi, I do sometimes wish that DVDA-2 would allow the user more control over the final encoding process. Mpeg-Layer 2 audio is a valid DVD spec outside of North American and I really don't understand why DVDA-2 must convert it to AC-3. It would

    RE: DVDA-2 Newbie impressions
I agreed that DVDA-2 is much improved over version 1. As current state, it is a "ok" authoring software, but not as "great". The main selling point of DVDA-2 is its tight intergration with Vegas (ever wonder why Sony bundled DVDA-2 with Vegas,

    RE: 2 Hr Video = 6GB MPEG2 using VV5
I was just trying to create a script that would do this, but apparently I cannot set the bitrate via script. Sony, a LOT of people want to render in Vegas (which Sony and other people recommend as the preferred workflow, especially since there are

    RE: DVD Architect 2
I have not used the fit to disk feature, so someone else will have to comment on whether it works or not. However, in general, as noted by many, many people, the size estimates in DVD Architect 2.0 are very poorly done, and general off by at least

    RE: DVD-A v 1.0 to 2.0 wanting to recompress
Don't burn the DVD, but at least go ahead and prepare the project. Then, select all the files in the VIDEO_TS directory that DVDA 2.0 prepares and see what the total size is. The estimates are often incorrect, although usually not by a factor of 2:1.

    RE: DVDA 2 Update?
That "size estimate is difficult to remedy" is the kind of thing you get from an engineer when he/she doesn't want to fix the problem. I am sure it is not trivial, but I am equally sure (I have an engineering degree) that better estimates would

RE: Slideshow from 10 JPGs - Smaller if created as "Music Compilation"
I wonder if there would be a rendering problem if the erroneous "forecasted" size of a project exceeded the DVD capacity, even when in reality it might actually fit. No, don't worry. DVDA's estimates are simply brain-dead. The numbers have

RE: Slideshow from 10 JPGs - Smaller if created as "Music Compilation"
Picture compilation: 10 * 5 seconds * 8 Mbps = 50 MB. When you account for the audio, that's why the picture compilation is 52.4 MB. MPEG2 is rendered in Vegas: If you used the "DVD Architect NTSC video stream" template to render the MPEG2 file,

    DVDA 2 Update?
I'm hoping someone at the company can give an idea on when an initial bug fix update to DVDA 2 might be released, I've been using and liking it but there are a few really obnoxious things (like its inability to estimate the DVD size correctly) that

RE: STILL can't burn DVD w/DVDA2
Hi, I never burn DVD using DVDA (1 or 2) so can't comment on this. But the best way for me is to output the final DVD to hard-drive first, then I can use PowerDVD/WinDVD to check to make sure menus... are OK; or use DVDShrink to make it to fit

RE: Worked example of wrong estimated size
I agreed ! Vegas is an excellent program - very robust and full of features. Mean while, DVDA (1 & now 2) seem like just a quick and dirty add-on for Vegas. There are still many BIG BUGS and lack of need features in version 2. Some of the bugs

RE: Worked example of wrong estimated size
John, you're right, if it's out by 10% then that IS significant, I thought the issue was only a 1% error. You're right about DVDA doing some wierd things. If I run two instances of DVDA things get very odd. Everytime one instance looses focus it

RE: Worked example of wrong estimated size
Could I ask why the obsession with getting the DVD 99.99% full? Yes, I can tell you why. I once again, yesterday, built three different DVDs where DVD Architect 2.0's HORRIBLE estimates really hurt. I transferred portions of twelve different

Worked example of wrong estimated size
There has been some discussion about the rendered size being wildly off, so here's an example using DVDA1. I've had the same problem with all of the patches of DVDA1 and I suspect the same problem is in DVDA2 based on what I've heard. This is also

    RE: DVDA: Pathetic estimates
    1. You're assuming all the data in an MPEG file is burned to DVD. However, for instance, an MPEG file contains system layer data which is discarded and the size of which is unknown. Also, the average bitrate of a video stream in an MPEG file is

    RE: DVDA: Pathetic estimates
    1. I am baffled as to why it is difficult to estimate, in advance, how much disk space will be required for a given project. The MPEG and AC3 files, if they already exist, are known sizes. The output of any files that must be encoded can be known

    DVDA: Pathetic estimates
DVD Architect 2.0 is a huge improvement over version 1.0c. In fact, it is a very good product, and not just when compared to the awful, first release. However, it still has several ridiculous rough edges that absolutely MUST be fixed in a 2.x

RE: Does anyone know the life expectancy of Ritek G04's?
