Well said, Nigel. I suspect that this take over of Vegas has been far more complex than many involved in it might have expected. This is likely to mark a step change in the growth and development of Vegas and, hard though it may be to accept, I feel some allowances should be made.
I'm willing to give Magix a little slack and would have upgraded to what is essentially a bug fix release (although there are now a few reported new bugs) but not at $100 more than what Sony used to charge upgraders in the past for Pro ($149).
Hello, about your Vegas Pro 14 is filled with mistakes, big bugs, and there in nothing in terms of really new. How do you meet many of your customers if you get out quickly with all these software errors? You will lose a lot of customers of Vegas Pro if you do nothing with it.
Who says that nothing will be done with VP14?
There was a first quickfix for one important issue. Gary has announced that they have another build in preparation to come up with more bug fixes.
And beside that, nobody said that Magix will not continue with the developement - but within VP14 I think.
We, Vegas customers, we expect a new software interface, with lots of novelties, either in colorimetry, export videos with new formats such as 4k and 8k already starting in some video software and many more ...
To my opinion that has started. The one point where is was started is the support of 10bit ProRes 422 - what is important for Shogun users like me. And the second point is the support of Blackmagic hardware with a 4K preview. The third point is the support of HEVC - since this is the format of the future since the specification for UHD TVs is 10bit 422 with HEVC. I think there is more to come.
If you want to satisfy your customers, try your opportunities to get a Vegas Pro 15 in the beginning of 2017 or summer 2017 and it is really finished, without bugs or crashes etc.
Thanks for reading me
I would not wait so long. The difference is that I wish to see major improvements in Vegas Pro 14. HDR for example. 10bit HEVC for example. LUT support maybe.
In Vegas Pro 14, we see nothing like new, always the same interface, sober gray, gloomy, filled with bugs, lots of software crashes ....
When you see that, you wonder why you went too fast .... If this is marketing issue and have money in my pocket, because that's the problem, you go faster your software just to have money in your pocket.
......

In one para, tomasz says that Magix went too fast, and in another he wants them to hurry up for the next version. Seems contradictory to me.
I think progressive refinement of the latest version as outlined by Wolfgang is better for users since no more money needs to be paid.
In my opinion everybody should just relax and see what Magix does in the next year. Vegas 15 might not have any bugs. Maybe they will come up with a bug testing machine that will simulate every way possible to test the software.

Vegas Pro 14 was launched some few weeks ago. I would not like to hear the comments if Magix would stop to fix bugs in VP14 and tell the users: come on, we will fix all in VP15, but nothing in VP14. To my opinion they work hard and do what they can to fix identified bugs NOW. And that is the only way how it can work really, because people have paid for VP14!

Very true. Even if I think that VP15 might not have any bugs :) since that is hard to ensure, I think what we will see are that they fix bugs in VP14 and (hopefully since I do not know that) add also some new features, also in VP14. But we will see.
Well, the upgrade offer expires soon and for once since I joined the family with VP9, I think that I will have to let this upgrade pass. With VP13, I finally have a solid system that does what I need and doesn't stress me. If I had a second editing machine to install the update on, I would probably go for the update but for now I don't want to do anything to upset my present system. I am a loyal supporter of Vegas Pro and plan to stay with VP.
Set, I appreciate your comments. I may miss this opportunity to upgrade but at least it's good to hear from someone who has both versions running and no ill-effects on VP13. Thanks.
I am running VP14.161. How does one get updates (say 189)? There are none mentioned or listed on the Magix site for Vegas Pro, only a download of the whole program.
