I don't know of any sites that have free EX footage for downloading. You get what you pay for.
For a measley 25 bucks you get:
•15 minutes of XDCAM EX footage
•DVD-ROM
•Total length of all clips is 15:00
•48 Clips including examples of every recording mode the camera offers
•Over 4GB of data
•Most clips are NTSC but a few PAL clips have been included
•Examples of 1080 & 720
•Examples of HQ (35Mbs) and SP (25Mbs) modes
•60i, 50i, 60P, 30P, 25P, 24P
•Examples of slow motion, slow shutter, and time-lapse
•NTSC and PAL clips
•Each clip has an average length of 18 seconds
•All clips are provided straight from the camera exactly as they were shot
•Detailed instructions and workflow tips are included to get you started off on the right foot
After you've bought your EX, you can upload some free footage so others can download it.
At any rate, the EX footage works flawlessly with Vegas 9.
Not footage but a great review on the EX-1R whitch is the one that you want it is the next gen of EX-1 and has some neat features. (it is a mac sight but he has other things to. Good luck and if you get one I will be jelous...
Then you don't want to know that the Journalism program at the college I work for is getting 10 of them this spring.
Borrowing one of them for a while is on my list of priorities :-)
It's for the Journalism program at St. Clair College in Windsor,Ontario.
An old downtown building is in the process of being completely renovated for it.
Side note here: in spite of my best efforts to sway them towards Vegas, they're going with an Avid-based (several Media Composer suites) system :-(
If you just want some footage to test drop me a PM.
I have camera at home. I just cannot say it'll be "well shot" :)
If you just want to test that it work surely it doesn't need to be well lit, in a studio filled with good looking talent :)
Aside from that though once run through the Clipbrowser it just works in Vegas, I've done around 100 hours of EX footage though V9. No need to transcode or any such messing around.
If you've got more dollars then the new PMW 350 would float anyones boat for a serious camera.
"Jay G, I was about to order that $ 25 DVD but when clicking "ORDER" there is no such DVD to order... "
Lars, it's under "Other Production Accessories" the fourth item down.
Bob's offer is very generous, but the clips from Vortex Media will show you how good the footage can look (not to mention all the various format possibilities).
