1 Bad sync

puttes wrote on 10/5/2003, 5:38 AM
I have one problem. As when finished editing on VV synk is perfect. After burning though, there are to places when the lip sync is a little bit behind.Very disturbing.I have then rechecked my editing - not the slightest behind. After re render and reburning same thing happens again.
Can anyone understand why? There must be something in the burningprocess that delays.I dont' understand why.
Any suggestions welcome/Puttes

I know what I would try:
1. Preview with everything muted - all but the sync sound and video with all effects off. To check if there is something slowing things down making it appear sync when it's not.
2. Render to different formats to see what happens.
3. Wait for someone else to reply :-)

When rendering from VV your best bet is to use the templates they supply for the DVD Architect Video Stream. Generally you will get excellent results rendering the audio separately as an AC3 file (use the template) and the video as MPEG 2 using the NTSC DVD Arhitect Video Stream. If you are using another template that is the source of your audio problem.

Should I use the NTSC DVD Arhitect Video Stream even though I use the PAL format?Everything else I have tried ( exept burn through another software).

No. If you are working in PAL use the PAL version. I don't have the software in my face at this moment but I think there is also a video stream templated for DVDA in PAL.

Well when I try this I get a message saying: "an error occured while creating the media file mpg... the reason for the error could not be determined" I dont know if next step is to reinstall Vegas or what...It obviously does not work.

You may be getting beyond my scope of knowledge.... but.... what kind of computer do you have -- speed -- ram -- hard drive and operating system.

Dell 8250 256 MB of RAM,Pentium 2.8 Ghz,Windows XP,110 GB capacity.That should be OK I guess?

Assuming you are using version "c" for DVDA and version "d" for VV ...

The sound synch problem and the mpeg rendering problem are two separate issues. If you reder an ordinary MPEG file as opposed to the Video and audio streams the sound will drift over time.

I don't know why the PAL template isn't working for you. I just opened a project up and redered it to PAL without an issue.

The hardware you offered is fine. That isn't the problem. You can try re-installing, but I doubt that's your issue. Try rendering just a section of your project -- 30 seconds -- and see if it does it. If that works, I suspect this is a file opening problem.

Pal template works now for some reason. The sync is better after a few renderings (as you said) but result is not perfect.I accept it as it is.Thanx
