10.e Pitch Bend & Time Stretch problems

cchoy wrote on 7/27/2011, 8:05 AM
I LOVE the way elastique 2 sounds, gotta say that. However, seemingly at random, sometimes when I pitch bend or time stretch a track it simply doesn't play any sound any more. Sometimes restarting the program helps, sometimes it doesn't.

Anybody have any ideas? This is horribly frustrating.

Windows 7 32 Bit Vegas 10.e

Try turning off track buffering in audio preferences.

Hi Peter-

Turning off track buffering doesn't work. Besides, it causes all sorts of other problems (stuttering playback, etc).

We've got our track buffering at a good spot right now (.25)

PS--- when rendering a large file, it is smart to turn track buffering all the way up, right?

No, not a needed thing. Rendering is not realtime. The buffering is to help realtime performance.

How are you using elastique? - as a track-level FX, or clip-level FX, or Ctrl+Drag clip?

i've got the exact same problem with 10e

If i change audio device a few times, and restart vegas a few times it eventually starts working again.

since i have the same problem I can tell you that it happens randomly on clips.
It comes simply from using ctrl+drag on a clip

And even just applying pitch changes by using the + and - keys

It works no problem after doing the edits, the problems come when you re-open the project. sometimes....

Those particular clips with time stretch or pitch shifting don't play, they're still sitting on the timeline, waveforms visible, they simply don't play or send any signal to any of the busses.

I use an echo audio gina 3g sound card with its ASIO drivers
All my projects run at 24bit 48kHz
I never use track buffering because that conflicts with my Waves plugins

and I've changed the internal preferences for default time-stretch engine to be elastique - speech

This problem only started after upgrading to 10e.
10a,b,c,d didn't do this.

"Rendering is not realtime. The buffering is to help realtime performance."

Realtime performace AND rendering are both important to me. My realtime performance w/o buffering is unusable.

Why should I have to sacrifice one for the other?

In any case, disabling the buffering doesn't solve my problem.

I am using Elastique on a clip level. (ctrl+drag) or + - pitch bend.

Thanks for the help, though!

I didn't ask you to sacrifice anything. I just pointed out that it does not affect what you thought.

I understand it did not solve your problem.

You should submit a bug report on this.

How do I do a bug report again? There are a bunch of glitches/crashes I'd like to make people aware of.

Thanks,
