1000 FPS?

Got a question. I've got a Sony VX2100, it can shoot at 1,000 fps, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it onto my computer at that rate. I use Vegas 8 to capture, but its capturing at 29 FPS. I tried to change the capture rate in the capture settings to 1,000, but it still captured at 29. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

you're mistaking shutter speed for fps. you can't change the fps on the camera.

Ok...what is the advantage of changing the shutter speed from 60 (normal) to 1,000 and can I create a super-smooth slow-mo by changing the shutter speed??

Do a search on shutter speed. It helps with capturing fast motion without it blurring but at the sacrifice of light. So the faster your shutter speed, the better for fast action. The slower it is the better it is for low light but at the sacrifice of motion (things will blurr).
