100fps

ravnedits wrote on 3/10/2019, 8:15 PM

I am trying to edit 100fps CS:GO clips, but when i drag a clip onto the timeline, it only shows a small portion of the clip, it doesn't pre-render the whole clip. I don't want to VDub the clips because the file size is insanely large, any suggestions?

@ravnedits - Hi, you’re continuing to have processing issues? Looking again over this thread: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/file-lag--115012/#ca712252 : not much has changed. Correct?

this is a different problem, the file lag is gone, its just the software doesn't pre-render the entire 100fps clip, just the first couple seconds of the clip. is there any way i can link a project or show an example? i could screen record this issue?

You can upload to a service like dropbox, then share.

"Pre-render" ? AS in SHIFT-M or SHIFT-B ?

as in, when i drag the clip onto the timeline, only a few seconds of the 15-second clip shows. so preview is what i meant, i guess.

What is the project format in which to try to place a 100fps videoclip?
Specify here the framerate of that projectsetting you use.

Vegas is not designed to edit video game clips captured at off-standard frame rates. You shouldn't be capturing at 100fps to begin with, as you're just introducing image artifacts when the game has to be downscaled in frame rate to 60fps to be displayed on Youtube or any other game video streaming service out there. Your best bet is to capture at a locked 60fps. You'll get the best quality that way. If the game has a way to lock the fps to 60, even better.

i render in 1920x1080 at 24fps, but edit 60fps+ clips

Both has nothing to do with projectsettings.
Your projectsettings you can find here:

Yeah, the goal is to keep the game's frame rate as close to what the final delivery format will have to be so that there is as little frame blending/interpolation as possible. The NLE or TV isn't always going to do the best job blending/interpolating, so you always want to keep the signal as pure as possible when it comes to frame rate, if youtube forces you to 60fps, your best quality will be to capture at that frame rate. The exception to this rule is resolution, there is a benefit of rendering at higher resolutions in the form of reduced aliasing/jaggies in the game graphics.
