Hi My 5 year old Sony Mini dv video cam has an audio setting of either 12 or 16 bit. Its always on its 12 bit default. When recording - what should I use and what are the Pros/cons of each?
12 bit allows you to record 4 audio tracks. You probably don't often have a need for this, or even a method by which to do so. 16 bit is higher quality, less noise, less distortion, but only allows 2 audio tracks.
Agreed, 16bit is the way to go. 12bit is an option so you could do voiceovers on the cam. Not to many people do that so use the extra 4bits for your main audio and do any voiceovers in VMS.
