thanks for the link,, don't know Oliver Peters , but then again don't know the names of many editors.Very interesting read,,had some real good points, One that I found intriguing was his 3 broll shots,, hmm ... I always have just used what feels right, usually an odd number for some reason,, its movie night at the house and I'm paying attention to broll number tonight.
Thanks again

What is this editing of which you speak?

Oh yes, Vegas!

Let me pull in a plug for editing:

I completely forget myself when editing, and I often don't think of eating or sleeping either.

Why?

1. There is something about editing that feels unbounded, limited only by your own imagination.

2. It is about finding the right rhythm, like dancing or playing an instrument.

3. You get to use your ears, your eyes, your hands, and often even your feet.

4. The coordination between ShuttlePro in the left hand and mouse in your right hand, it just works!

To quote:

There are three movies in every production:
1. the movie that was written,
2. the movie that was shot, and
3. the movie that was edited.

So we always get the last word! :O)

"2. It is about finding the right rhythm, like dancing or playing an instrument."

I learned this from a client who is a ballroom dancer. I was only cutting images, he made me turn off the audio so he could feel the rhythm of the images. Once we'd got the visual dance going we matched up the music as best we could then made minor tweaks to ths vision but without breaking it's rhythm. What a difference.
