13 - bug?

have fairly complicated 32min tl.... lots of everything, hdv, mxf, png, etc.,

i can happily render to xdcam, but if i then directly render to hdcam, i get a freeze at a certain point (png with fx and pan cutting to simple plain png). however, if i close out and restart vegas i can then render out to hdcam no problem.

i have no idea what causes this, and obviously since i know the workaround it's not a major problem, but i'm just wondering - does vegas retain some sort of 'memory' from one render to another which might cause this anomaly?

I can't answer your question, but if you first delete all temporary and partially rendered files associated with the render and possibly also restart windows, does your workaround fail? If so then your answer may be "yes".

thanks peter, will give that a try tomorrow.

meanwhile, i'll continue with my workaround, but i've now render the program so i'm not too worried.

did a test with another less complicated tl and had no problems, could well be 'something in the way she moves'....

" does vegas retain some sort of 'memory' from one render to another"

I would think it'd keep as much of what it'd already buffered into RAM.

" which might cause this anomaly?"

I cannot see how. I've it could render it once it should be able to do it again. If it was buffered then I cannot see how it would have a problem having a second pass at it.

Maybe it just has something to do with a dirty buffer or RAM not being released.
