16:9

Hmm, okay, well then.
I have a 16:9 file (PAL) that I place in a WIDESCREEN project and select the MOV file to be PAL WIDE. Why then does it show in preview as a narrow video with black bars on either side, left and right? (The total image is 16:9, but the video is in the middle.) Very weird.

During previde - in the option, select simulate devide aspect ratio.

Simulate Aspect Ratio *IS* selected. Although it makes a difference in the width of the WHOLE movie, the actual VIDEO file is still displayed in the center with black bars, left and right.

Did you check in the optimize that the video is in wide format?
I am using wide-pal and have no problems in preview.

Yes, in Optimize the PAL WIDE format is selected.

I seem to get it right when the video is without a frame, i.e. the clip is "on its own" and not surronded by a frame. (I uncheck the "frame" option. I'm at work and can't remember if it says "frame" or something else).
