16/9 video from jpegs?

Hi,
With V7, I'm trying to obtain WS video from my pics.
The original size of the pics is 2288 x 1712.
After rendering, the result does not look like 16/9. There stays black parts at each side of the video.

After cropping the images to 1024 x 576, the video began to look like 16/9.

Is there any easier way?

i have version 4.

what i do is after i drag a photo to the timeline i right-click on it and choose "video event pan/crop". then i pull down the preset for 16:9. this puts a 16:9 aspect ratio crop box over my image which i can then drag around if necessary.

i don't know if there's a way to do that for all photos automatically. i rarely use stills so i always do it manually.
