1920x1080/25p AVI playback: twitter

I just noticed a strange thing in Vegas Pro 8.0b: when I "selectively render" HQ 1080/25 mxf's into 1920x1080/25p AVI using Canopus HQ codec, it plays back perfectly from Vegas timeline. However, the same avi's when played back outside Vegas (e.g. in WMP or Nero Showtime, with deinterlace off), exhibit the dreadfull line twitter I was hoping I got rid off with selling my old good V1E away...

How can you explain that?

Easy, your display system was and still is messed up.
There was nothing wrong with your V1P and if you had that problem back then it's going to be worse with the EX1 thanks to the increase in V res.

Hold on, Bob - nothing is wrong with my display, I've just said there is NO line twitter when playing back from Vegas timeline (full screen on a secondary display). Also, MPEG2 renders never twitter, either - nor does the picture direct from EX1 via component.

The more unexpected is twittering of those avi's in other players (outside Vegas), and this is what my post is about.

Maybe my comprehension isn't so good but that sure sounds like you were blaming the problem on the camera.

In the my reply:
"your display system was and still is messed up"

Is not the player part of the display system?

I'm playing out 720p via WMP from WMV at the moment and not seeing any line twitter however it's an old version of WMP. I have no idea what the later versions are doing. I've not seen any problem out of my hardware based 1080p WMV player either going into a Bravia.

That said though one reason I have this current job is because of how a DVD was authored and WMP or PowerDVD both manage to mangle things very badly. Again the fault lies with the display system(s). This was graphics, no camera involved at all.
