2.0a will not upgrade to 2.0g in Win2k

I recently threw win2k on my machine and Vegas Audio is giving me some serious grief. 2.0a will not upgrade to 2.0g. It says that I need DirectX 8.0 and then cancels the setup. Problem is that I already have DirectX 8.0 on my machine.

I've always loved SF's products, but Vegas Audio 2.0 has been a real let down. It performed like a dog with its first release and I can't upgrade to the most recent. Not to mention the fact that its getting real hard to talk to a real live person at SF without paying extra for it.

The registration hoops are getting unbelievable...I'd almost prefer to install a crack than have to call for a registration code during business hours (when I'm at my real job).

Just venting there, sorry. I would like to know what to do with the upgrade however.

There are two components of DirectX8 needed to properly upgrade Vegas. If either is absent from your system, you would get the install fail you describe.

Here's the link to the 2 needed components:

Install these, reboot, install the Vegas update and all should be cool.

I did indeed not install the video component update. Will try and see if this works for me.

Thanks,
