2.1GB mpeg is 11.5GB in DVD Architect 4.5 HELP!

I am pulling my hair out over this. I have a 2.1gig mpeg1 file that I want to turn into a DVD. When I import it into DVD Architect 4.5 it says the Disc Spaced used is 11.5. I am not using any menus I just want the video to show on the DVD.

We use a Sony 60GB hard drive video camera. When using the SP mode we can't get a 1 hour 15 minute service to go on one 4.7GB DVD.

This is becoming a problem for our church shut-in ministry since we have switched from recording our church services on VHS to DVD.

What am I doing wrong?

DVD's are based on time but on compression. IE you can fit many many many MANY hours on a DVD with really really really high (low bitrate) compression.

~2 hours on a DVD is ~4mbs (or so). DVDA is either a) misreporting the size of the file when converted to mpeg-2 (I recommend you do that in vegas anyway: much faster) or b) the file is so long that @ it's set bitrate that's how big the file WOULD be. I'm betting a.

If you want DVDA to figure it out automatically, just prepare the DVD & it will auto-recompress the video to fit on to the DVD. If possible: again, if it's to long to fit on the DVD @ DVDA's set bitrate, it will give you the option of lowering the bitrate.

I figured this out last night after watching a youtube video that was suggested in another thread.

However I do have one other problem. When we are videoing our worship service in the SP mode from our Sony Digital Video Camera It will create two files. The first is approx. 45 minutes and the second will be shorter depending on the length of the service.

My question is it possible in DVDA to start the first video and when it reaches the end it automatically plays the second video without going back to the menu page? In other words I want to link video one to video two so that it plays smoothly through the entire service.

You should be able to set an End Action linking one video clip to the next seamlessly.

I'll check that out in the helps. I went through "navigate" and "link" but did not get any help. Guess I just needed to know the right verbiage.

That's created another problem. When I put the two video files next to each other the transition between the two creates a "blip" in the video and a click in the sound track.

To muddy up the waters....
I use Sony Vegas Studio 8.0. When I put the two video files next to each other in Vegas the transition between the two creates a "blip" in the video and a click in the sound track. How do I get the two video files to smoothly blend without the "glitch" and "click"?

And when I created that file I get a 4.7GB completed file that when I place it into DVDA and try to optimize by clicking fit to disch I get the message...
"Media file(s) is too big and could not fit into a single DVD disc
Consider making more media assets available for recompress or removing some media assests..."

I'm getting very frustrated.
