For some reason when I drag a clip to the timeline it produces 2 audio tracks. Im assume its left and right audio. Is there a way to produce one track as default when I drag a clip to the timeline
I'm not sure of your intention or the file(s) your working with but yes... Sort-of.
Right-click the event and select "Channels", which will open a context menu allowing to select which side will be a mono file on the timeline. Any audio information on the unused channel would not be heard.
Typically, this feature is useful if for example an interview was recorded with a lav mic on the 'left' channel and the boom mic on the 'right', allowing one to choose one or the other in post.
rraud,
I'm reading that he wants Vegas to open a mono track by default when he drags audio to the timeline. A minor annoyance for him, but I know no way around it.
Now that you mention it MV, I read it as well. (Back to grade school, reading comprehension.) I'm not aware of a way around it either. Though my previous post would be a 'work-around'.
VP does have an option in the 'Preference' menu to 'open' stereo files as two mono tracks opposed to one stereo. I don't know if it would function that way when dragging an audio file to the TL. ( and I don't have access to VP at the moment to try it)
