is the academic version of vegas any different than the other version?
are there alot of aftermarket video effects for vegas, can you give some examples??

1 - No differences apart from the fact that you cannot use it commercially.
2 - Not much at the time but it seems Boris is coming with a Vegas 4 Plugin pack. Also, Spicemaster and Spicefilters are avalaible for Vegas and they rock. Satish, a vegas user offers some free transitions also.
