2 part question, New sony 63hd tapes/and best storage pratices

The first part of the question is for people like Spot and others that are using the FX-1 etc. Are you using the new Sony tapes that are designed for them or something else. I'm not so concerned with cost as whats best for the cam.

Also is the general concensus to store the tapes verticaly vs horizontaly?
Mine are starting to stack up and I am thinking of buying some sort of storage boxes, but most of them like the ones that are wall mountable store the tapes flat or horizontaly.
Wha-da you guys(girls) do?

Vertical is definately better, all other things being equal. If the tape doesn't wind on the spool flat and smoothly the layers that stick out can be crinkled by the weight of the tape if left in a horizontal position long term. Maybe you can rotate the racks 90° when you hang them. I put up a bunch of 1x6 boards to use as shelves for tapes & discs. Very cheap, very useful, and very format-agnostic.
