Use the JKL keys. Tapping the "L" key during playback will speed up the playback and scrub acoordingly.

I have no idea what a 'control surface' is, but I agree. I've never seen a video deck that did less than 30X, and our newest one does 65X. Also important to be able to back down in small increments to allow using an external shuttle controller.

Even Premiere 6's paltry 7X is speedy compared to 2X.

the JKL keys still only go up to 2x though.

Cheap work around. Temp. set clip properties to playback rate of 4.000. Now you have 8x. Add in Velocity envelope of 300%. You do the math.......zoooooom
Just don't make edits while in super shuttling mode.

I have a shuttle pro, if I could scrub fast my editing time would increase significantly. I would like to be able to limit the max X rate.
Also the JKL keys or my Shuttle pro will not Scrub when viewing via the Media Pool or the Explorer - This is really annoying!
