2006 VASST Render Test

Has anyone run the 2006 VASST Render test using the new render test yet? I went to the VASST webpage and only 5 people have posted results. Unless I'm reading the the render times wrong, it sure looks like a long render time for a 30 second MPEG2. The render time ranges were from 03:26:53 to 10:09:14

There are 5 segments on the timeline for about 30 seconds. You are instructed to render using the HDV 1800-16i Video template. Render quality should be set to preview.

My results were:
Section 1 - Intro - 8 seconds -> 03:14
Section 2 - Color correction - 5 seconds -> 01:44
Section 3 - Masks, Filters - 5 seconds -> 01:51
Section 4 - Mask, motion, blur, composits - 6 seconds -> 30:47
Section 5 - Credit roll - 4 seconds -> 02:31
Total render time -> 40:12

When I tried to render Section 4 at the Video Render Quality = Good, I got a message from Vegas that it stopped because of low memory!!

I'm using Vegas 6d

My machine is:
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Manchester 1GHz FSB 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor
MOBO - ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
Memory - CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model TWINX1024-3200C2PT

Last I heard this test was going to be revamped because several people had issues with it at the time (November). Search the forum, I remember there being some threads about this.

Tom:

Here's the thread that David mentioned. It does appear that there are "issues", as well as some solutions...

That's interesting. When I did a search of the forum this afternoon, I didn't get many hits on "render test". But when I searched tonight, I got a lot more hits. I didn't realize this was already discussed. So I guess my rendering at the preview level doesn't tell me anything?

If you use the old (real old) render test you should be around 40 seconds.
