I too work with a DVX100 in Vegas. The SoFo engineers recommend doing all your editing and partial renders with the 2-3-3-2 pulldown (means setting the camera to 24pA), NOT 2-3 pulldown. It took me a while to understand this but the principle is that each time a 24p DV file is rendered, if it's in 2-3-3-2 all the frames copy exactly. If it's in non-advanced, or 2-3 pulldown, there is one interpolated frame for every 6 frames and this causes a VERY slight decrease in picture quality, which of course deteriorates over multiple renders. I think the reason the DVX100 was given both settings is because of the state of the technology long ago when it came out, i.e. last October.

To work in 24p, go to Options>Preferences, General tab, and scroll down to the check box for "Allow pulldown removal when opening 24p DV." Make sure it is checked and Vegas will run everything in 24p (as will DVD-Architect if you set it the same way). To get Vegas to work with INCOMING video as 2-3-3-2, you have to have filmed the footage with the rear dial on the camera set to 24pA (setting 6), of course. The Render As settings also allow you to switch between 2-3-3-2 and 2-3 by hitting the Custom button in the Render As dialog which opens a Custom dialog. Click the Video tab on the bottom, and see the drop-down list at "Frame Rate," that's where you'll see the 2-3-3-2 and the 2-3 options. So, if you're saving your work to come back to later, it should all be saved in 2-3-3-2 (even if the camera shot at 2-3 which is "24p," Setting 5 on the camera) so there's no deterioration of picture.

SoFo sez the final render can be out to "regular" 2-3 pulldown (or whatever format you want) since there will be no further recompression in a final product.
