25fps 50i to progresive

Hi there....sadly I shot in 25fps 50i with my HDcam so now I'm seeing a lot of interlaced artifacts in the blue ray I made with Vegas.

Been trying some things and I would like your imput about what would be the best way to produce a progressive file I can watch in either the tv or the computer.

The tutorial in:

didnt worked out because handbrake refuses to accept the generated file.

I then tried deinterlacing using virtual dub which apparently deinterlaces way better than vegas but I can only export to an uncrompressed avi.

So any ideas how to do it?

thx

Hi David,

Have you condsider taking the uncompressed.avi from virtual dub, bringing it back into Vegas and rendering out to your favorite delivery format such as a highbit MainConcept or Sony AVC mp4 for your TV and computer viewing?  Or, after virtual dub, bring it back into Vegas and use the Debugmode FrameServer to run it directly into Handbrake for the final delivery mp4 file?

Best Regards.......George

If you are watching on Bluray, the interlacing should not be an issue. It should look fine. If you are creating for the web or computer, then some players will deinterlace, or you can create a deinterlaced file for web use. I have no problem with the way Vegas deinterlaces. I would keep it interlaced for the bluray. Remember when you deinterlace you throw away a lot of video information.

Hi guys.

Well it is really awful the huge quantity of artifacts that I see on the Blueray. Most shots are of buildings with lots of straight lines and I get a lot of...well artifacts, weird ghosting and so forth.

I'll try exporting into uncrompressed avi but the video is 60 minutes long and I fear I wont have the HD space for the huge file virtual dub will create.
