25mbps mfx vs 25mbps m2t?

Is their any difference between the 25mbps mfx video codec and that of the 25mbps m25 video codec.

The reason I ask is that theoretically they should be the same except for the uncompressed audio of the mfx encode. This would make mfx better for smart-rendering since the audio wouldn't be re-encoded with mpeg compression each time.

Unfortunately however, m2t video doesn't seem to smart-render into mfx.

Is there any way to "rewrap" the video portion of an m2t encode into an mfx file with uncompressed audio?

You may want to try this, it is an open source tool for creating MXF from mpeg2 and your choice of uncompressed wav files:

Laurence...one thin you might want to try if you're still shooting to tape along with your CF system...
Downconvert the CF to SD, which means it's now recording uncompressed. Video goes to tape as HD with reference audio and timecode.

I tried the freemfx.org utility. It seems it is set up to convert Avid clips and doesn't seem to work on my m2t clips. Thanks though.

Cool idea Spot on how to get uncompressed audio! I am not so much worried about the audio data compression per se though. What bothers me is the several generations of audio data compression that a person gets when they smart-render the m2t clips a couple of times. So far I'm not hearing any damage, but none-the-less I would like to avoid it if I could.

It just seems to me like the 25mbps .mfx format is pretty much the same thing as the 25mbps .m2t format minus the audio data compression. That's why I was curious about going back and forth between the two.
