Since I usually shoot and edit in 25 frame progressive scan, I usually encode my DVD's using the progressive scan option when rendering the MPEG2 from the Mainconcept encoder included with Vegas.
One option has been bugging me however. To my knowledge DVD players are made so that they do not trust the flags on a DVD. Apparently it is much harder for a DVD player to confirm that it is playing a progressive scan PAL DVD than it is for an NTSC one.
In the Mainconcept encoder options there is a list of settings for "Alternate Scan pattern" for I frames, B frames, and P frames. The help makes a point of stating "better for interlaced video" for these settings.
If anyone from Sony could chime in here I would be grateful. If I set the DVD encoder to progressive scan, should I also uncheck the Alternate Scan Pattern options too?
