2704x1520 GOPRO footage stabilization

goodmoodharry wrote on 8/20/2017, 5:08 AM

It seems that it is not possible to stabilize 2704x1520 footage shot from my GoPro Hero 5. Vegas is shutting down every time, other footage (for example 1440x1080) is working fine. Any workarounds / ease of Situation known? I tried it with render the footage first to 1440x1080 and apply then the stabilizator - what turned out was a complete blurred result - unacceptable.

Thank you for hints!

Vegas Version: 14.0 Build 211 64 Bit

Hardware: Intel Xeon 3,5 GHZ, 32 GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro 1703/Build 15063.540 64 Bit

Projectsettings: same as footage, 2704x1520 50.000fps

But you are right with the internal stabilizer of my hero 5: it was deactivated god knows why, reactivated it, internal stabi is hammer! But this does not help with my current footage, it´s shot without stabilization.

Did you try to turn off GPU support in "Options/Preferences/Video"?

It is turned off, and by the way I am wondering why there is no option to turn it ON! I assumed that I work with GPU acceleration all the time, but as I learned now, I didn´t. Why the drop down menue shows no YES selection?

As there is just NO and nothing else, there are no accpeted GPU´s on my System? The GTX1060 6GB should be a good one for GPU supported processes, why it is not listed?

However, I will update my Vegas Pro to Build 270, and again something to wonder that this update was not installed automatically. Every useless software is updating in the background on it´s own, why not Vegas? At this stage, I didn´t find any option to change this, but is not my biggest problem. Stabilization is still not working.

It´s Driver Version 382.05. But I have seen in the article that the Nvidia GTX Series is definately NOT suitable for Vegas Pro GPU processes. That may be the answer?

Which stabilizer? The "ancient" one in Vegas' media fx, or Mercalli v4?

@Cornico

Mercalli v4 takes longer? For me it is the opposite for all footage I have ever tried. Weird.

OK. That makes sense. I tried stabilizing 2704x1520 gopro footage (I only have 30p). Both stabilizers work fine.

Stabilization is still not working.

With Vegas stabilizer must be no audio track about the video track on the time line independent from GPU status. I have no Mercalli to test it. Usually audio tracks are inserted below the videos and than it works but sometimes is an audio track about the video and its go wrong.
