2nd capture drive

Hi. When capturing video using Vegas Capture, I have a problem in: 'options/prefs/disk management' I seem to be stuck with my 'C' drive, which has my OS on it, and is nearly full (40gb). I would like to put my 'D' drive on it (120gb nearly empty) but I keep getting a protection fault, and have to shut down. After reboot, I am stuck with my 'C' drive. Any ideas ? Peter

I don't understand what you mean by "Protection Fault". Normally, when I open my disk management, all I have to do is uncheck 'C' drive and then check 'D' drive and it's as simple as that. Is your new harddrive formatted properly? If you were over 120 GB, I think some OS's have a problem, but 120 should be fine.
Do you see your 'D' drive in the disk management window? Did you properly make your 'C' drive your master and your 'D' drive the slave?

Hi Peter:

Is it possible that the second drive was incorrectly jumpered when it was installed? C: has to be jumpered as the Master, D: as the slave. This could be the problem.

Thank you 'TheGr8Steve' and 'JackW'.
When I open 'disk management' the C drive is already there. So I insert a file name from my D drive and put the D at the top (first choice) but after clicking 'apply' and 'OK' the capture program says it has encountered a problem and has to shut down. After recovering, my C drive is the only choice in disk management. I hope this makes sense. The file name IS valid eg: D/video/vegas captured. Peter

Is your D drive available for any other application? Darryl

Thank you Darryl. Yes, my D drive has some audio and other vidio already on it, and works fine. Peter

1. How did you get the other video on it?
2. Can you drag video on C over to D using Explorer?
3. Are you sure D is formated NTSC?

Hang in there, Darryl

You never stated if you had the disks managed as Master and Slave, as they should be. This can be found in the instructions to your Hard drive. Your 'C' drive will be the Master and the 'D' drive will be the slave and the jumper pins on each drive have to be set up the right way. I think if they're okay, then Vegas should have both drives already listed in the disc management section and all you have to do is uncheck 'C' and then check 'D'.
