2nd Monitor . . What should I be wary of ?

I'm really warming to the 2nd Monitor option, but what issues and settings should I be aware of when I use the 2nd Monitor as a Preview? Interlace to NON-interlace setting? Using the De-interlace filter in Prefs?

Also, is there a simple way I can go to my external monitor for checking colour and the like? Is there a Keystroke to bring this extnal monitor into play - without needing to go into Prefs?

TIA,

Grazie

I have a 3 monitor setup. 2 CRT's for data display and an NTSC monitor for vegas previews.

Getting the NTSC to preview at full screen is a challenge without loosing frame rate, but other posts address this in depth. I have settled on a routine that works pretty well. NTSC monitor set to 640x480 allows me to drag the preview window to that monitor and get it pretty big in a 320x240 preview setting. I get descent frame rate and the preview is much larger than I could ever get on the computer monitor. I also still have room for the audio mixer and timecode display. Freeing up realestate on the other 2 monitors for media generator, scopes, etc. I have 1 monitor dedicated to nothing but timeline and tracks. It's a thing of beauty to have all tracks visible in the project all the time. Of course some projects still get busy enough to require scrolling but the majority can fit on the screen easily.

The single biggest advice I can give is buy a spyder2pro calibrator. Since calibration, I have confidence that what I am seeing is reality. It is such a relief to take a project from the edit system to my 56" DLP and the color, saturation, brightness, contrast is the same!
