I have posted two short spots and my 4:45 entry for the recent 24 hour video race on chienworks site. (Thanks Chienworks!)

The 2 short spots make a lot of use of the new TV simulator effect in 4.

The one called innerloper was a thing I did by myself in 24 hours. Vegas was quite useful along side Acid in creating the score and doing the foley. I wish my computer had been faster. I wanted to treat the whole thing in different color saturations with some grain, but ran out of time.

Great work Chris! I watched the 30 second spot - very impressive. The shot were the actor fades out while she tries to embrace him. How was that done?

Thanks. 24Peter, that was stock footage so I didn't shoot it, but I'm sure that they just dissolved 2 shots together...one with the both actors and the second with just the woman.

I should let Chris defend himself, but the stock footage was from a public domain Otto Preminger site (if I recall from another of his posts) and he was using that in the local commercial he put up on Chienworks. The 24 hour movie challenge thing was all his own, with the soundtrack produced by himself in ACID.

I hope you don't mind if I ask this here...I've got WMP for WinXP 8.00.4487, and I could not get Chris's video to play right. The sound is fine, but the video is choppy. (I have DSL).

I'm sure I need a codec, but I have been out of the NLE for a while.

Thanks,

Jon

Stock is stock! I mean would it be any different if I pulled up a bunch of photos I took when I was a kid? That's what stock footage is for! Did you create the fonts that you sent this message to the forum with? I doubt you did, but you could have. The Prellinger archives are free for the taking! Go to archive.org and you will see their non-disclaimer..or um.. non.. claimer.. um.. you will see they give us all the rights to use what would have otherwise been trash in a dumpster heap. It's great stuff! Be creative and use it......if you suck as a producer such as I!

Yes, all the 24 hour thing I did on my own. You can't use stock footage for it. I do admit that I was using loops from ACID. No, I did not arrange that orchestra to play all that in 24 hours. (!!) ...but just you wait 'til next year~!

Jon..did you try downloading the whole file first? I'm sorry, but I uploaded a file that was way too big for streaming. Thanks for looking!
chriselkins wrote on 5/21/2003, 3:44 PM
d1editor, the effects were all V4 done by me. The stock footage was from archive.org.

Oh good grief! It's a stupid video anyway! I mean the 24 hour one.....innerloper. I'm just whining on there. I'm better now.

Well Chris for what it is worth; I was impressed. I thought it was clever how you took cultural references from the past and strung them together for a commercial. After looking at the Jackejett website you can tell that the commercials' campiness and his show would be a perfect match. YOu did a good job. Stock footage is meant to be used this way.

Thanks, starixiom! Yep, Jack's show is hi camp! He does really get some very cool films and animation from all over the world that balance out the hi-campyness to a really impressive show to watch, for all of you filmakers out there! If you go to his website you can find the link to submit yours.
