3 Video Sources... Not Enough Tracks.

I am editing a tape of a live concert, shot from 3 different angles using 3 different cameras. The way I'm approaching editing it all together is to choose the best audio track, then sync all three video tracks to the sound and cut and paste two of the angles into the main wideshot footage.

Unfortunately Video Factory only has 2 video tracks (counting the video overlay), so it's very difficult to cut back and forth while keeping everything in sync. Is there a feature that could help me that I'm not aware of? Am I approaching this the wrong way?

You'd want Vegas Video for that ability.

Vegas has unlimited tracks. This is a link that Vince posted, copy and past the address. It is a handy tip for using multi-camera shots.

Thanks for your help, guys. Unfortunately Vegas isn't really do-able with my current budget ($500??). You wouldn't happen to have any other ideas, would you? Thank you!

There is an upgrade price from Video Factory to Vegas for $199.95.

Other than that, you don't need to have the full capture from the entire event from each of the three cameras on the timeline. You can split up the captures into individual scenes first, then drop them on the timeline one or two at a time. Sync'ing won't be as easy, but it is doable. As long as you keep a master audio track, the result will sound fine. After placing a video clip on the timeline it's easy to nudge it left or right to sync it to within one frame. This should be close enough to be unnoticeable.

If you are a current owner of Video Factory 2.0, I think you can upgrade for about $200.00. Check the products web page for VV 3.0 pricing.
