30 fps to 25 fps conversion for band videoclip

Hi guys,

You gave me some information last week on the 30>25 fps conversion that Vegas does and how it is okay for slow footage but not so fine for fast movement....

Now I was thinking: what if , during the recording of the band , I play back my soundtrack 30/25= 1,2 times the original speed and let the bands mime to that, and then in Vegas bring the video in sync with the audio, will that not only work for the framerate but also introduce a very cool slow motion effect?

Or am I a bit too optimistic here?

You can in effect overcrank what's in front of the camera and then use Vegas to simple change the playback rate of the footage from 30fps to 25fps avoiding any resampling.

You can get some very interesting results doing these kinds of tricks. Look into a technique called "dry for wet". You need a high speed camera to really push this trick.

These two videos feature a slo-mo effect heavily. I used an audio player that can play back at double speed and maintain pitch. I shot at 60i with a high shutter speed and then play back the video at .5 playback rate with the project properties set to progressive.

Don't worry too much about camera stability since all the motion is at half rate.

Good luck.
