35 DVDs by tomorrow

Here's my problem. DVD Architect won't recognize my dash r burnable media when I go to burn a DVD. Although DVD Architect won't recognize the media, Nero does. So I figured I'd prepare the dvd in dvd architect and burn it in nero. When I go to burn the prepared DVD Folder in nero, nero gives me a message saying "DVD Files rellocation failed, This may result in an unplayable disk, A non-critical error has occured, Do you wish to continue" I click yes, and then the disk burns sucessfully and the disk seems to be fine (it plays in my dvd player). In the nero log, it says that one of my files is not a multiple of a logical block size (2kb). I'm thinking that this has something to do with my audio being an ac3 file because if I burn a prepared dvd folder in nero that has pcm stereo audio, I do not get the message. Anyway, I have 35 DVDs to duplicate by tomorrow so I was wondering if I should just ignore the warnings given in nero since the burned disk seems to be fine.
Thanks
-Jim

That's wierd. I was just burning disks with Nero yesterday and didn't have this problem. Audio was AC3.

There are settings in nero to pad the DVD write out to at least 1 GB for DVD player compaitbilty. Could that have something to do with it? PCM would certainly be larger...maybe that alone makes the total reach 1 GB or more. Just guessing here.

(I also had to update my burner's firmware before I could get reliable DVDs.)

Actually it's almost a full 4.7 gigs, that's why I cant use PCM. I started to dupe them in nero and they seem to turn out ok even though it's giving me a warning message.

Here's an interesting thread on it:

You're using DVDA 1.0, I presume? This was a bug that caused the files to be just slightly too big. It was fixed in DVDA 2.0.

At any rate, I've seen this reported on the DVDA forum lots of times, and the author always said that the disc plays fine in their player. So you can probably ignore Nero's warnings.

thanks for the thread, it seems like a pretty common problem

Old problem. Here's the solution:

Workaround to Nero error message

Also, as already pointed out, upgrading to DVDA 2.0 solves the problem.

If anyone is interested here is my post in the DMN forum a year ago with some details regarding this issue:

as mentioned - running it through dvdshrink will fix the problem ..

if you plan on getting this replicated in the future - it would be a good idea ..

if using nero , select data udf/iso bridge , not dvd video profile

or use ' prassi ones' , which is the 'new" version of the best (prassi - before sonic ruined it for the most part).. http://shop.traxdata.fr/boutique/liste_produits.cfm?type=1&code_lg=lg_us

Which version of Prassi? I have a German version of it that I have never tried. Prassi PrimoDVD Version 2.0 I believe.

Prassi PrimoDVD2.0 is very very good - you may have to update it though.. (it is used in a lot of places still).

SONIC Record Now MAX is the same burning engine and the PX update for Record Now Max works for prassi ..

Prassi ONES (the app i mentioned above) , uses the same burning engine also .. but doesnt have the the crap SONIC added to to Record NOW MAX (older versions of Record Now Max (4.5) are still good) ..

Actually Record Now Max 4.5 is what I use, so it doesn't seem like it would be worth installing the Prassi software. I use both DVDA 1.0 and Record Now Max 4.5 for burning. Both seem to work very well.
Tried Nero and hated it. Too many issues and too many versions and updates. But I never try to jam too much on a DVD. I'd rather use two. This obsession with getting everything on a single DVD has caused a lot of problems which I have not experienced because I avoid it.

yep - no reason to switch unless you need the multiple burning ability of prassi ..

I've got Prassi 2.0 and it doesn't recognize my new 109 burner. I downloaded the patch for RecordNowMax and installed it but it didn't seem to do any good. Have I overlooked some magic for the install?

check that prassi is using the new px engine .. if not you might have to manually install the DLL's found in system32 into the prassi folder also ..

if it is supported in RNM , it wil be also in prassi ...
