360 Video Rendering Issues

JOE-COSTELLO wrote on 10/23/2024, 8:20 AM

I recently had a System Drive failure and had to reinstall Vegas 17.0 and 20.0 Since then I am unable to properly render my 360 videos from the timeline. I've tried this with old projects that previously worked and new projects. I also tried various resolutions with AVC and HEVC formats. My transcoded video files on the timeline look perfect with 360 output but after rendering, I get that warped non 360 image. My Project Settings Template is Custom1 4096x2048 29.970fps. Working on a Windows 11 desktop machine. Are there any settings that I may have neglected to change? Please share any help available. Thanks

Vegas will render an equirectangular projection video. You will need to add metadata using the Spatial Media Metadata injector to view it as 360 content (or some other equivalent software)

Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I'm not fully understanding as before my System Drive replacement, I had rendered 360 Videos from Vegas Timeline for several years. They always played back properly. Are you advising to somehow add this tool to Vegas?

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the problem. Can you share images of what has changed?

Just a thought...I have a vague recollection that the 360 preview mode affected renders. I could be wrong, but you might try rendering with that off.

Appreciate the comments 3d. I've since discovered that the issue was with the default Player my Vegas Pro was using after rendering (Windows Media Player). I cannot properly play the video in Window Med Player or Movies & TV player but I WAS able to successfully play rendered clips in VLC. It's an extra step but at least I'm back in business. thanks again

Good.

If you are going to upload to YouTube you may need the Spatial Media Metadata Injector, though it may be hard to find now.

SView can also play 360s. StereoMovie Maker FF has a viewer too.
