You can certainly do this now, if you use anaglyphic 3D (red/blue). And it works for video as well as stills, if you've shot them in 3D.

The beauty of anaglyphic video is that it needs no special equipment at all, other than the red/blue glasses.

Uhh i don't want to watch my 10+ hour family 3D HD video in anaglpyh format... We are in 2011 now...
I like to view in my room on a big screen with 120Hz technology.
