3D, Crashes, Preview Pain

I primarily work in 3D and

My system usually Crashes:
-When rendering to a new track (almost always)
-When using new Blue effects (sometimes)
-When I save and close 50% of the time I get 'Vegas Has stopped working' message
-Pretty much every other save or so.

Here's an annoying one:
When using dynamic ram preview...and I have all the ram a man could want, by the second or third selection that I preview the preview takes forever to accomplish. I found I need to close the program, then start over and it works fast again. I dedicate 18Gb to dyn/ram preview. I’ve tried many combinations and none work better. I also have 3Gb on my nvidia card. Any ideas about this quirk?

I read somewhere that you should not use all your ram for video preview. I use about 1/4 for ram previews and I do not crash like when I used over half my ram. Try lowering that and see if it helps. Thats all I got.

I7 processor, sandybridge, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 gigs ram,
Vegas Pro 11 build 511, Gforce 560

Hi,
Thanks for your help. I've tried 500mb then 1gb then 4gb then ...you get the idea. I have 24gb of ram. In terms of crashes, well I've never had a program crash as much...ever. I even built the machine to work with Vegas. It has no other task.
