3D editing v19 651 and V20 403

I'm experiencing a couple of problems editing 3D video using the latest versions of V19 and V20. Specifically, when I set the project to 3D the width gets reduced to 8 pixels, and I cannot change the 3D preview setting.

I am using a new laptop, with details in my signature, but I saw the 8 pixel quirk on my older HP laptop too.

Here's an example, step by step:

I loaded a couple of 3D images to a 1080p project:

Set the project to SBS full and the width is changed to 8 pixels which I correct by resetting the width:

Next I set the media properties to sbs full:

Finally I try to change the display mode to anaglyph, but nothing changes:

I tried the graphics driver update utility but...

Any ideas?

I have found the same problem in the last version of Vegas 19. Certain resolutions cause it to default to a width of eight pixels when the 3D project mode is changed. The awkward workaround is after it defaults to eight pixels, go into the project properties and set it to where it should be again, and you're good to go... At least until the 3D project mode is accessed again and then it will default back to 8 pixels. As mentioned, the seems to happen with certain project resolutions and not others.

I'm mostly concerned about not being able to change 3D viewing modes. I use the difference mode a lot when adjusting the 3D alignment.

Tinkering further...it appears the 3D viewing mode does change in V19 and V20, but it doesn't show up until I hit the play button.

I also tried out V18 527: It didn't have the 8 pixel resize bug. It didn't update 3D viewing mode changes when hitting the apply button, but does when you hit OK.

just for testing, what happens when you lower source image resolution to say 4k?

#1 Ryzen 5-1600, 16GB DDR4, Nvidia 1660 Super, M2-SSD, Acer freesync monitor

#2 i7-2600, 32GB, Nvidia 1660Ti, SSD for system, M2-SSD for work, 2x4TB hdd, LG 3D monitor +3DTV +3D projectors

Win10 x64, Vegas22 latest

@relaxvideo: Hmmm...I'll have to tinker with that. I was working with two projects yesterday a 6K (ish) VR180 HEVC clip from a Kickstarter camera I'm thinking of (probably not) buying into, and a 1080P project using stereo images that started as 4K stills and were cropped a bit in StereoPhoto Maker.

My gut feel is that Vegas doesn't really care about the still images, since it sizes them to fit the 1080p frame and they don't take that much memory anyway.

The HEVC source might be a different situation, as I disable automatic proxy generation (prefering to build my own proxy's) and Vegas seems to be OK without proxies for small projects.

So...I opened the vr180 project, set it to 720P SBS 3D, and saved a jpg screen shot.

I then closed Vegas, started it again, and created a 720P mono project. I loaded the 1280x720 jpg image, then set the project settings to 3D SBS. The apply button didn't seem to work but OK did & the 8 pixel problem did not occur.

I then played with changing the 3D viewing preferences and got a mixed result...sometimes the apply button worked, sometimes closing the preferences pane did, most of the time I had to hit play for the changes to occur.

I then tried changing the project from sbs full to top/bottom full and, again, sometimes things worked, sometimes they didn't.

The 8 pixel thing does seem to be affected by the size of the project and/or media. I'm not sure what to make of the rest, except the suspicion that whatever they did in moving the 3D inputs around in the menu system has introduced unforeseen consequences, to put it nicely.
