Have your event on the timeline. Grab the upper right corner and drag the 'quarter moon' symble to the left thus creating a transition (fade). Drop the spin away on the transition and make sure it is set to spin out. Have nothing on the tracks below. You will get a spin out of the video into a black void.

No sir...that worked in V5 but it is not working (doing exactly as you described) in V8b.

OK I just did it in 7d and it worked just like I said. Now I'll go try it on 8c and see how it works....

OK just tried it in 8c and worked exactly the same way. Don't know what your problem is.

I don't know what to say guys...I went back to try several different ways ...ie click tumble away in the drop down and fly out on the radio button.... overlapped a solid color event for it to interact with....all I get is a black screen tumbling in. However it works as expected if I overlap a clip with it.
I'd like to resolve this because I do occasionally use the effect.
