3D Video Capabilities of Vegas

Does anyone know if Vegas has the ability to take in 3D animation created in Lightwave and incorporate the animation with live action so that the animation and live action are part of the same scene. (Something like Roger Rabbit)?

I've printed the manual from the website, but the animation section does not answer the question.

If the 3D animation is rendered with an alpha channel, you can composite them over live action. Use uncompressed AVI or numbered stills.

You can also shoot your live action over blue/green screen and composite it over the 3D animation.

Go to your bookstore or Amazon.com and check out "Digital Compositing In Depth", although it doesn't mention Vegas, you can do many of the same things in Vegas (but not all!).
