It may be your file itself.

Upload a short clip somewhere and let us have a look at it.

What codec did the converter use in the AVI file? Try using MJPEG. Vegas works great with MJPEG footage.

Got it. Vegas prompted me to download QuickTime - had to get the 64 bit QT player ??? 'cause first install wouldn't install due to being 32 bit. Installed and now its all there in V9.
