I have a 3hr AVI, rendered in Vegas 5.0d as Open DML V 2. I've tried Printing using the PTT in the Vid Cap 5.0 app, and also from the timeline. I am printing to a Pan DV2000 with manual device control. I have 8GB free HD space on the C drive on my laptop--Dell M50. The AVI file is on an external Lacie firewire drive with over 300GB free. I've tried printing to tape with the temp files folder both on my C drive, and I've moved it to a folder on the Lacie drive as well; the temp file that Vegas creates is under 2GB.
With the temp files folder on C, and with the avi on the timeline, it prints rock solid until 35min, then goes blank--no flickering or sputtering, just blank. From the Vid Cap utility, it prints for 19minutes, then blank--actually, since it doesn't have machine control, I had to print with the "preview" function. With the temp files folder moved to the Lacie, it prints from the timeline solid for 59minutes, then goes blank.
There are no antivirus or other programs running. All power mgmt settings on the laptop are at "always on", "never turn off". No screen savers either. I've run out of ideas. Somehow, I think it has something to do with only 8GB of space on my C drive, that's why I experimented moving the temp folder to the Lacie. Can anybody help?
