3rd Post - No rendered audio until reboot.

3rd time to post this. Would someone please care to respond!

About half the time I render an MPEG-2 audio stream (.ac3) or .mp4 file then go back to play it or use it in DVDA the file won't play. it's done this in Vs. 10 as well. Weird because the files size is the same as when it renders to a playable file.

What I have had to do (which drives me nuts) is to render the audio first and then check it. If it doesen't play then I close Vegas & reopen the project and it will render ok then. Wonder what gives???

Here are the results of a failing .ac3 file using MediaInfo:

General
CompleteName : G:\6X47X11.ac3
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
FileSize/String : 39.1 MiB
Duration/String : 28mn 30s
OverallBitRate_Mode/String : Constant
OverallBitRate/String : 192 Kbps

Audio
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Format_Settings_ModeExtension : CM (complete main)
Duration/String : 28mn 30s
BitRate_Mode/String : Constant
BitRate/String : 192 Kbps
Channel(s)/String : 2 channels
ChannelPositions : Front: L R
SamplingRate/String : 48.0 KHz
BitDepth/String : 16 bits
Compression_Mode/String : Lossy
StreamSize/String : 39.1 MiB (100%)

Anyone have any ideas to resolve this?

So after you reboot, the AC3 file you rendered still does not play? You have to render it again?

Had something similar happen to me this morning - twice. And both times it seemed to do with V11 gobbling up memory. First rendered a :30 .wav file from an SD spot. Only thing in the project. When I brought the wav file into Vegas, no waveform appeared and no sound played. In Media Player, it played fine. Closed Vegas, checked Task Manager (as I've gotten in the habit of doing) and the Vegas process was using over 800MB and growing. Stopped the process, restarted Vegas and everything was fine. A bit later rendering a :30 QT, brought the file into the timeline to check and it was black. QT player played it. Same as above, restarted Vegas and everything was fine.
Only has happened a few times previously, but never just on a small .wav render. Sometimes (maybe 25%) V11 leaves a process running after exit, but usually exits clean.

Not a reboot, just a restart of Vegas. Even then, the original render will not play. It wont even play if I take the file to another pc.

After I do the rerender, both files sizes are the same & both have identical characteristics. If I do any re-editing of the project, I will have to restart Vegas & render right away to get the audio to work. It mostly depends on how long I'm editing before it fails to render the audio.

This weekend, I couldn't get it to render properly until I restarted Vegas, deleted the broken file and the .sfl file first.
